A law enforcement vehicle outfitter is having trouble keeping up with demand in California. A service that was commonly used only by law enforcement agencies has seen an astonishing uptick in demand from a surprising new client: regular retail customers.

Many San Francisco residents are ordering window bars commonly used in police vehicles to protect themselves from “smash and grab”, the new trend in the city. The accessory is commonly used in police vehicle to transport arrestees, to keep them in. Now, they are being used to keep them out.

“We are already two months behind and everything is on backorder” said an employee that wished to remain anonymous. “We sell everything, some people even asked if they could buy a cop car with the window bars already fitted in” he added.

“It’s the only thing we can do, my only regret is financing this BMW in 72 payments, I wish I had gotten a Hummer”, said Joshua Emmenthal, an enraged resident that had his car broken into twice in a single day.
